Coming through customs and immigration in the US 2 weeks ago, the officer looked at our passports and then glanced up at us.
"So, are you sisters, or a couple?"
He had our passports in his hands. I'm 21 years older than her, and she's under 18, which seems to safely rule out the latter. And 21 years of age difference...but you'd guess siblings before parent-kid?
Whatever, we both laughed and took it as a compliment. Maryna was sure that it meant that she looked at least 25 and I was sure this meant that I looked no more than 27. WIN. (Considering we had just endured about 23 solid hours of travel, I'm guessing we both looked 28. That's right: Twenty.Eight.)
