Same results every time you cook them

Got a ton of tomatoes? Here's my surefire way to clear them out: put them in a pan with a touch of water, simmer for 20-30 mins checking and smooshing with the potato masher every 5 mins or so. Wander off to the back office and forget about them (despite the husband reminding you). Put blackened charred pan in garage to finish smoking. Scrape into garbage in the morning.
