Auggie sang to me...
This Beatles shirt (and associated obsession with Beatles songs) has passed down through all three kids now. August loves to sing "Letter B" but is also very fond of Lennon's "Beautiful Boy" which Rob sings to him most nights. A few nights ago I was tucking him in and said "close your eyes" and he popped awake: "Sing it?"
My Beatles/Lennon lyrics are rusty, but I took a shot: "Close your eyes...go to sleep."
Right. "Close your eyes, have no fear. The monster's gone; he's on the run and your MOMMY is near".
"But, I'm mommy."
"Close your eyes, have no fear. The monster's gone and he's on the run and your daddy is near".
"OK. Close your eyes, have no fear. The monster's gone, he's on the run and your MOMMY is near.
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful....beautiful AUGGIE."
Done with me: "Find daddy to sing it?" (And that's how you get fired by a 2 year old)
And because we have a pretty solid one-track mind around here, stick around for the last 15 seconds of this clip.
Note: Augs is singing "close your eyes, have no fear.....sailing away..." which is a bit of a jump in the lyrics but better than I manage to get:
Close your eyes Have no fear The monster's gone He's on the run and your daddy's here
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful Beautiful boy Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful Beautiful boy
Out on the ocean sailing away...
