Out
I'm in St Louis, Katie's at grandma's, and Rob and Jorge are living the bachelor lifestyle for the night. Meaning in this case that they both fell asleep early despite having big plans for the night.
I'm running experiments, hoping to round out the data and finish this paper I started almost 2.5 years ago. And as always feeling completely at home here and wishing I felt even half this rooted at my real home.
At one point in the morning I had to run to the bank which left me with an hour to kill in the plaza near our old house property. Most of the plaza is the same ol' same ol', but two stores did the job: Trader Joe's and World Market. I found all the little quirky toys and decorations and foods I love so much. Unfortunately, since it has to come home on the plane with me and hang out in my hotel room for 2 day I couldn't get most of the really good (liquid and/or frozen) treats, but I did get some sushi for lunch and then stock up on some favorite groceries--stuff we just can't find at home.
Tomorrow I have more experiments and a short meeting with my co-author which will have to end early because I'm ending the night (and this trip) with a night out with friends; another treat we haven't quite found at home.
